How to migrate store credit from another platform to Shopify

Moving from Rise.ai, Smile, or another platform? Here is how to import existing customer balances without losing data.

The migration challenge

Leaving your current loyalty platform means exporting balances, confirming they are accurate, and importing them into your new app. Done wrong, customers lose their credit and your support inbox floods.

Step 1. Export from the old platform

Rise.ai, Smile.io, Growave, and most major platforms support CSV export. Export email, balance, and expiry date if applicable.

Step 2. Audit the CSV

Check for: duplicate emails, balances that look wrong, customers who no longer exist in your Shopify customer list.

Step 3. Import into Bulk Store Credit

Use the bulk CSV import. The app matches by email and creates balances. Non-matching emails are flagged.

Step 4. Spot-check

Pick 10 customers and confirm their new balance matches their old balance.

Step 5. Announce

Email your customer base letting them know the migration happened and their balance is intact. Include a “check your balance” link to the customer account page.

Step 6. Disable the old app

Only after confirming the migration, uninstall the old platform. Do not run two credit systems simultaneously.
