Custom builds for Shopify Plus
The events, reports and integrations that make a program run without a person holding it together.
A program lives or dies on two things nobody sees on launch day: whether customers get told about their balance, and whether finance can trust the number at month end. This is that part of the build.
Integrations, automation and reporting on Shopify Plus, the facts
Scope, building blocks and timelines for this kind of build. Updated 2026-09-02.
| What it is | The connective layer of a custom build: program events into your email and automation tools, reconciliation and invoicing reports, accounting and ERP hooks, bulk operations and migrations. |
|---|---|
| Email and automation | Klaviyo events with full properties. Shopify Flow triggers. Your team builds the flows and owns the sender. |
| Reporting | Issued, redeemed, expired, remaining per company or program per period, with order-level detail. CSV, spreadsheet, or API push to QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite. |
| Bulk and migration | Roster and voucher imports, gift card migrations with balances intact, credit issuance at scale, mapping reports for unmatched rows. |
| Built on | Admin API bulk operations, webhooks, Shopify Flow triggers and actions, Klaviyo Events API, the accounting system's API, native store credit and gift card objects. |
| Timeline | Scoped inside a program build. Standalone reporting or integration work is typically 2 to 4 weeks. |
| Who it is for | Shopify Plus merchants over $2M a year running programs where the monthly number matters. |

Events into the tools your team already uses
We do not build an email system. You have one. The app emits events with the properties a marketer needs, and your team builds the flows in Klaviyo or the automations in Shopify Flow. The practical reasons: your sender reputation stays yours, your brand voice stays yours, and when marketing wants to change the reminder cadence they do it without a developer.
Typical events for a store credit or corporate program:
- Credit issued, with amount, program, company and expiry date
- Balance reminder at a configurable interval, with remaining balance
- Expiry warning, with days left and the balance at risk
- Program renewed, with the new allowance
- Cap nearly reached, for corporate accounts
- Order held for approval, to the approver, and approved or rejected, to the buyer
- Roster changes, to the program manager
Internal alerts (a pool running low, an unusual issuance at one location, a report ready) usually go through Flow to Slack or email, because that is a five minute change for your team later.
Reconciliation that finance can sign
If a client company is invoiced for what its people redeemed, the report that produces that number is a financial system of record. We treat it that way.
- One query, reproducible. The same period returns the same numbers next month. No manual assembly.
- Detail behind every total. Each redeemed figure expands to the orders, the customers and the locations. Each issued figure expands to the roster upload or the staff action that created it.
- Reconciled before launch. We tie the report to Shopify's own store credit and sales reports for a test period, and the first live period is checked by hand with your finance team.
- Delivered where it is used. CSV on a schedule, a shared spreadsheet, or an API push to your accounting system with the invoice lines pre-built.
Bulk operations and migrations
Programs start with a list and often with a legacy system. The build includes the tooling to load and move them safely.
- Roster imports with a preview: rows to create, rows to match, duplicates, bad emails, and the total value about to be issued. Nothing runs until someone has read that preview.
- Gift card migration from Square, Lightspeed, Clover, Toast or a paper system into native Shopify gift cards with balances intact and every code captured at creation, because Shopify never shows a full code again after that moment.
- Voucher and credit migration into native store credit against matched customers, with a mapping report for anything that did not match and a plan for the remainder.
- Large one-off issuance, such as compensating every customer affected by an incident, with segment targeting, notes, expiry and a single cost line for finance.
Accounting and ERP
We build the Shopify side: the report, the events, and the API calls into QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or whatever your finance team runs, at the level of detail they specify. We do not implement or reconfigure the ERP. If your ERP partner needs an endpoint or a file format from Shopify, we build to their spec.
Fits with
This page is the back half of every other custom build: store credit programs, corporate accounts, checkout Functions and POS and online. It is scoped as part of those and occasionally on its own when a merchant already has the program and only the reporting is missing.
Other custom builds
- Store credit and voucher programs: Company-funded credit, allowance programs and rewards paid in native Shopify store credit, with pools, rosters, expiry and a reconciliation report.
- Corporate accounts and invoicing: Company accounts where staff buy under one program and the company gets one invoice, built on Shopify B2B companies, payment terms and draft orders.
- Checkout extensions and Shopify Functions: Custom discount, payment, delivery and validation rules that run inside Shopify checkout, plus checkout UI that shows the right thing to the right buyer.
- Programs that work at POS and online: One balance, one set of rules, redeemed the same way in eight stores and on the website. Shopify POS extensions and native store credit at the register.

Integrations, automation and reporting: common questions
Can you send store credit and program events into Klaviyo?
Yes. Credit issued, balance reminder, expiry warning, program renewed, cap nearly reached, order held for approval. Each becomes a Klaviyo event with the properties your team needs (amount, expiry date, program name, company) so they build the flows and own the sender. We never send from our own sender for your customers.
What about Shopify Flow?
The app emits Flow triggers for the same events, so your team can wire them to anything Flow reaches: tag a customer, notify a Slack channel, create a task, hold an order. Flow is often the quickest way to add an internal alert without a code change.
Can the reconciliation report feed our accounting system?
Yes. The report is a query over Shopify orders, store credit transactions and program data, so it can be exported as CSV on a schedule, pushed to a spreadsheet, or posted to QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite through their APIs. Which one, and at what level of detail, is scoped with your finance team.
We have a legacy voucher or gift card system. Can you migrate it?
Usually. Existing gift cards can be imported into native Shopify gift cards with balances intact, and outstanding vouchers or credits can be issued as store credit against matched customers, with a mapping report for anything that did not match. We built Bulk Gift Cards partly for this job.
Do you build ERP integrations?
We build the Shopify side of a specific integration: the events, the reports and the endpoints your ERP or accounting system needs, and we call their APIs where that is the simplest path. We do not implement or configure the ERP itself.
How do you make sure the numbers are right?
The report is reproducible by design: same period, same query, same result, with order-level detail behind every total. Before launch we reconcile it against Shopify's own store credit and sales reports for a test period, and the first live period is checked by hand with your finance team.
