How to configure shipping zones for accurate ETA on Shopify
Zone-based delivery estimates require thought. Here is the setup process for realistic per-country ETAs.
Zones vs countries
A zone is a group of destinations with similar transit times. Group countries not by continent but by transit.
Step 1. List your destinations
Pull your last 90 days of orders. Group by country. Note average transit time for each.
Step 2. Create zones
In Arrively, add zones like “Domestic fast”, “Domestic slow”, “EU”, “Rest of world”. Each gets a transit range.
Step 3. Assign countries
Drop each country into the appropriate zone.
Step 4. Set transit windows
Example: Domestic fast = 2-3 days, EU = 7-10 days. Wider windows are safer for customer expectations.
Step 5. Add holiday calendar
Mark major holidays that affect shipping. The app automatically extends ETA around those dates.
Step 6. Verify
Open products with different shipping destinations and confirm the ETA is realistic.
